We now have ethanol-free fuel for your boats and even your small engines. Lower your maintenance costs.”
Fisherman's Haven is a semi-private, non-resident mobile home park and marina situated at the confluence of the
Llano and Colorado rivers on Lake LBJ in Kingsland, Texas. It is the oldest continuously run, family operated camp on LBJ.
We have 325 feet of lakefront and offer some of the finest in Lake enjoyment with on-the-water gasoline and oil facilities,
boat slips, and a lighted fishing dock. We have overnight RV lots in
addition to mobile home spaces. We have bait, tackle, arts & crafts, snacks, and sodas in our store.
We have RV spaces for rent by the day, week or month, and mobile home spaces are rented by the month. All of our customers with mobile homes leave them here year round so they can come and enjoy the Lake whenever they want to. It's like having a Lake house but not having the chores that go along with that. We do all the yard and waterfront maintenance, so you can just soak up being here.
We have customers who have been here since the early 1960's, and some who are new to us, but all are family once they get here. Full time residency is not allowed. Call for availability of lots.
We have 34 dry storage boat stalls available at Fisherman's Haven for monthly and long term lease. These stalls are in fully enclosed metal buildings and are weather-proof. Fisherman's Haven is completely fenced, well lighted and someone is on-site virtually 24/365 for security purposes.
Sixteen stalls are 11 feet wide by 26 feet long, and eighteen stalls are 12 feet wide by 32 feet long.
About Us
Fisherman's Haven is the oldest family-owned and continuously operated Marina and Camp on Lake LBJ, and possibly the entire Highland Lakes Chain. We've literally seen a lot of water go under the bridge in almost 50 years, enduring floods that ripped out our waterfront but we built it back each time, knowing it is worth it to be here on the "river bank".
The Camp began as the dream of Woodrow and Margie McDougald. They bought a 2.5 acre fish camp and an adjoining 5 acres in 1959 and turned the small fish camp with 4 boat slips and an old platform dock into 325 feet of prime waterfront complete with retaining wall, ten slips, a fishing dock, launch ramp, fuel facilities, 22 mobile home and RV sites, 16 dry storage boat stalls, and hamburgers fit for the President of the United States.
Woody spent every day at the waterfront for 41 years, selling bait or gasoline, helping someone out with a stubborn boat motor, or catching fish himself. He was known far and wide as "the guy without a shirt" since he rarely wore one during the summer months. He quickly became everyone's Dad and later their Granddad.
Margie helped out with the business, too, working right alongside Woody in all things. She cooked breakfast and hamburgers for anyone who was hungry, including Lyndon Johnson and his Secret Service staff. She always planted a garden, growing fresh tomatoes and onions for the burgers. She helped launch boats, dip minnows and wait on customers whenever Woody couldn't. She could out fish anyone, and invariably caught something when no one else could. She was then, and still is now, the busiest 106 pounds of woman around.
Faye and Craig McDougald purchased the Camp in May of 2000, allowing Woody and Marge to retire. They have added an additional 5 RV/mobile home spots, 18 more dry boat storage units and 5 more wet slips. The hamburgers have come back now, using the same grill Margie used in the 60's, 70's, and 80's. We now have customers coming from the each end of the Lake to enjoy them, claiming they are the best hamburgers they have had. We use only fresh ingredients and ground sirloin, tailoring each burger to the customer's order.
Full time residency in the Camp is not allowed. Our customers leave their mobile homes or RV's set up for vacation use at their convenience. We do maintain some of the RV sites for short-term use for those who look for weekend excursions. All of our customers become part of the family, with a lot of them having been here since the early 1960's. We are a part of four generations in most of their lives, having watched the children of those early customers grow and become parents and then grandparents.
Stop in next time you're on Lake LBJ for the best burger around and top it off with some ice cream, or come with your RV and relax with us. Remember, any day at the Lake is better than a day at the office.
Marina
Fisherman's Haven has been selling gasoline and oil on the waterfront since 1959. Our slips are all padded so your boat doesn't get dinged up like at other places. During Summer Break and also Spring Break, we have courteous teenagers to assist you with tying up your boat and also help you with the fueling process.
We are proud to be able to bring to you Ethanol-Free Fuel for your watercraft. Please talk with your mechanic about the benefits of non-ethanol fuel. It will reduce your maintenance and help your engines run more smoothly and efficiently.
Look for us under the 100-foot-tall cypress trees at the mouth of the Llano River.
